Understanding the Problem
Under the CMS at the time, guidelines for the design and content of visual tappable stories on wsj.com and the WSJ mobile app lived in multiple different places, such as in various PDFs, Google Docs, GitHubs, and Google Slides. Because of this, many visual stories were flagged for being inconsistent or having problematic design and/or content. I created a style guide for visual stories that combined all content notes, new design guides, and examples in one place.
Design

Impact
This style guide was implemented for WSJ visual stories, as well as shared across Dow Jones to their other brands to influence similar products. I helped Barron's (also under Dow Jones) put together a similar style guide after they saw the WSJ one.
